تأسس "الاتحاد العربي للتطوع" بموجب قرار "مجلس الوزراء" رقم /04-2464/ الصادر بشهر يوليو (تموز) عام 2018، مملكة البحرين.
وهو منظمة دولية غير حكومية، يعمل على التجميع بين المبادرات التطوعية العربية، وتتمثل رسالته في الاستثمار في إمكانات الشباب، وتشجيع المتطوعين الشباب الموهوبين وتعزيز ثقافة التطوع من أجل التنمية والعمل الإنساني من خلال بناء القدرات وزيادة الوعي.
ويتألف من الهيئات والمنظمات المعنية بالتطوع في الدول العربية ويضم 17منظمة عربية رائدة في المجال التطوعي والمجالات التنموية والإنسانية. منذ عام 2015، توصل الاتحاد العربي إلى أكثر من 1.2 مليون شخص من خلال أنشطته وأنشطة أعضائه.
ويهدف إلى توسيع دائرة التعاون مع المؤسسات الرسمية في مختلف الدول العربية في مجال التطوع، والمساهمة في بناء القدرات والتدريب والتأهيل للعمل التطوعي.
