He is the Secretary-General of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives” since October 2015, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Managing Director of the “Dubai Future Foundation” since January 2015, and Chairman of the Council of the “World Government Summit” since February 2013.
He has also been Chairman of the “United Arab Emirates Soft Power Council” since April 2017, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority.”
Al Gergawi holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Ministerial Council for Development, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Investment Authority, which is owned by the federal government.
He has been a member of the Dubai Council since 2020, a member of the Council of the United Arab Emirates University, and a member of the Council of the Emirates Genome Program since June 2021. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Abu Dhabi University and a fellow of the London Business School. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of Harvard Business Review Arabia, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Government Excellence Award.
He previously served as Chairman of the Emirates Competitiveness Council and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dubai Holding between 2004 and 2017. He was Secretary-General of the Executive Council of the Government of Dubai between 2002 and 2006, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Investment and Development Authority. He also held the position of member. Delegate at Dubai Media Incorporated, and Chairman of the Emirates Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Al Gergawi won a number of medals and awards, most notably the “Royal Moroccan Medal” from Moroccan King Mohammed VI, the “American Business Award,” and the Uzbekistan Friendship Medal, highest class, in 2023.
He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University, USA.
