Egypt Gas was founded on September 1, 1983, and listed on the Egyptian Exchange on April 7, 1992. Previously known as the Natural Gas Projects Company, Egypt Gas is a state-owned enterprise that plays a pivotal role in Egypt's natural gas sector.
The company specializes in the design and engineering of natural gas distribution networks. Egypt Gas undertakes a wide range of activities, including market research, technical and economic studies, and the construction of odorization stations, pressure reduction and control stations, steel pipelines, and natural gas networks within cities.
Egypt Gas holds a 40% stake in Natural Gas Vehicles Company (CARGAS) and is a significant shareholder in both Egyptian Natural Gas Cooling Company (GASCOOL) and the Egyptian Company for Natural Gas Distribution to Cities (Town Gas), with respective stakes of 20.95% and 30%.
