He is the Chairman of the Gulf Group for the Study of Diabetes, and a consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes at Al Burj Medical Center. He held several positions at “ Dubai Hospital ”, namely: Executive Director of the Hospital between 2009 and 2014, General Manager between 2002 and 2009, and Consultant in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology between 1993 and 2002. He was also a practicing physician at “ Rashid Hospital ” and a member of the Board of Directors of the “International Diabetes Federation”. In the Middle East and North Africa region. He received the “Sheikh Rashid Award for Distinguished Scientific Achievement” in 1988, and the “Distinguished Employee Award” in the administrative field in 2002. He received honorary fellowships from both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in 2011. He has been a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Endocrinologists since 2007. He holds a Master’s degree in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology from Germany, a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine from Ain Shams University in Egypt, and a German “Fach Arts” certificate in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.
