She is Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Al Maskari Holding Group , a member of the Board of Directors of the Arab International Women's Forum, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation, Enterprise Asia, and the Emirati-Swiss Friendship Forum.

In 1993, she established the United Mercy Foundation to provide financial support to orphans in the Gulf States, East Africa, and India. She also founded the Global Institute of Justice and Technology and the Global Academy for Emergency Medical and Rescue, which provide training to the Ministry of Interior in the fields of security and law enforcement.

In 2016, the Kingdom of Sweden awarded her the Royal Order of the Polar Star, First Class, honoring her by the Swedish Ambassador to the UAE. In the same year, she received the Emirati Shield of Honor for her humanitarian contributions to the development of the UAE. Forbes Middle East magazine also ranked her among the "Most Powerful Arab Women of 2015."

She holds a PhD and Master's degree in Geology from Indiana University in the United States of America, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of London in the United Kingdom.
