The ‘Lebanese Leaders in Gulf Companies’ list reveals that Lebanese executives and directors hold prominent positions in the Gulf’s economic landscape as they lead a number of the region’s most prominent companies and institutions that serve as pillars of the new economy. Data shows that Lebanese talent possesses a clear ability to influence strategic sectors. These leaders stand out for their capacity to build bridges between cultures and operate with high flexibility in multilingual, multinational environments.

Thanks to their social and linguistic intelligence and diverse educational backgrounds, they have reached decision-making positions in major companies and influenced shifting economic and social trajectories.

Lebanese leadership in banking, advertising, technology, and real estate

The banking, finance, and investment sector tops the list of industries led by Lebanese professionals in the Gulf, according to the latest release from the ‘Pioneers’ series and the adopted methodology for compiling the list. Lebanese leaders account for 17% of the individuals featured, holding top executive positions in a wide range of companies, from investment and commercial groups to banks, entrepreneurial ventures, and regional offices of international organizations. This strong presence highlights the ability of Lebanese leaders to manage complexity and create value in competitive environments.

Notably, there is also a significant presence in the advertising and marketing sector (11%), technology (8%), and real estate (8%). Lebanese professionals play a central role in building the region’s most prominent advertising and marketing agencies, founding successful tech companies, and leading digital transformation within traditional entities. They have also made substantial contributions to the real estate sector. This reflects what is often referred to as "Lebanese creative intelligence," a blend of innovation and the ability to craft compelling commercial narratives.

Lebanese contributions in other sectors

Both the healthcare and food sectors account for 6% each of the leaders on the list. Lebanese professionals are at the forefront of change, leading some of the most advanced hospitals, medical centers, and healthcare companies in the Gulf. They also manage food supply chains, nutrition companies, and catering businesses.

In the media sector, which makes up 5% of the list, Lebanese leaders have played a foundational role in launching, developing, and growing the regional media industry. Today, they are behind key TV channels, platforms, and production houses that shape public opinion and drive Arabic content creation. The industrial and retail sectors each also account for 5% of the featured leaders. Lebanese professionals run factories in diverse fields, head companies dealing in food and consumer goods, and manage major retail enterprises including malls and shopping centers.

These figures underscore the diversity of Lebanese talents and expertise, as well as their deep integration into the Gulf’s economic fabric and their significant influence on the growth and prosperity of its many sectors.

UAE leads, followed by Saudi Arabia and Kuwait

In terms of geographic distribution, the UAE hosts the majority of Lebanese leaders (68%), followed by Saudi Arabia (17%) and Kuwait (11%). This is unsurprising, as the UAE, particularly Dubai, has long served as a hub that attracts Lebanese talent, offering an open, diverse, and business-friendly environment.

Saudi Arabia, which is undergoing a massive economic transformation under Vision 2030, has been attracting Lebanese professionals since the 1970s and continues to do so, especially in media, technology, business, and healthcare. Similarly, Kuwait has also been a destination for Lebanese talent since the 1970s and still draws them into its companies and various sectors.

Co-creating the GCC’s future

The strong presence of Lebanese professionals in senior executive roles across the GCC signifies that the Lebanon-Gulf relationship has evolved into a strategic partnership in shaping the region’s future. Today, Lebanese leaders are not only managing companies but also contributing to defining the major directions of Gulf economies, particularly in sectors focused on the post-oil future. This qualitative presence is expected to grow in the coming years, especially with the rising demand for creative, managerial, and innovative talent, which are areas in which the Lebanese have long excelled.
