Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Arab Emirates to the People’s Republic of China for the period from 2017 to 2023.

He joined Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC ) and its group of companies in 1992, and held several positions between 1998 and 2007, including: Head of Marketing Research and Analysis Department, and Manager in the Planning and Coordination Department.

He represented the UAE in OPEC between 2001 and 2006, was the UAE Governor in the organization between 2009 and 2016, and chaired the OPEC Board of Governors.

He held the position of General Manager of the National Gas Shipping Company Limited (NGSCO) between 2007 and 2009, and Chairman of the Advisory Committee of the Council and Member of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) between 2009 and 2017.

He also held the position of Vice Chairman and Board Member of Emirates General Petroleum Corporation (Emarat) between 2009 and 2017, Chairman of Technical Meetings at DNVG Group between 2010 and 2017, and Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee at Lloyd’s Register Group in the Middle East.

He served as CEO of Abu Dhabi National Tanker Company (ADNATCO) and National Gas Shipping Company Limited (NGSCO) between 2015 and 2020, where he led the merger of the two companies. He was CEO of Ruwais Fertilizer Industries (Fertil) between 2016 and 2017, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Emirates Maritime Arbitration Centre between 2016 and 2019.

He received an honorary doctorate in maritime law from the University of Tasmania in Australia, and the “Navigation Personality of the Year Award” in 2013 in recognition of his efforts in developing maritime navigation.

He holds an MBA from Southeastern University in the United States of America, and a BA in Economics and Political Science from the University of Southern Indiana in the United States of America.
