He served as CEO of ANZ Indonesia between 2008 and 2016.

He also held several positions at Standard Chartered Bank, including: Chief of Staff and Global Head of Client Relationships in Singapore between 2005 and 2008, Regional Head of Strategy and Product Management in North East Asia between 2002 and 2005, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director between 2000 and 2001, Executive Director of Corporate Banking between 1997 and 2000, and Assistant Director of Global Corporate Banking between 1992 and 1997.

He holds an MBA in 1991 from Stanford University Graduate School in the United States of America, a Master of Science in Management in 1982 from the University of Mumbai in India, and a Bachelor of Economics in 1980 from the University of Delhi in the same country.
