He is the Co-Chairman of the Supervisory Board of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aramco Trading Company, Motiva Enterprises Limited, Saudi Aramco Refinery Company in Jubail (SASREF), and King Salman Energy Park (SPARK) .

He is also a member of the US-Arab Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) since April 10, 2022, the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden) representing the Public Investment Fund since October 25, 2020, S-Oil Company, Dhahran Techno Valley Company, the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) the Saudi Council of Engineers, the Arab Geophysical and Surveying Company Limited (ARGAS) and the International Society of Petroleum Engineers.

He joined Saudi Aramco in 1983 and held several positions, including: Executive Vice President of Refining, Chemicals and Marketing at the same company between September 13, 2020 and July 1, 2023, Senior Vice President of Exploration and Production between 2016 and 2020, Acting Senior Vice President of Exploration and Production during 2015, Vice President of Corporate Planning between 2014 and 2015.

At Aramco, he also held the position of Acting Vice President of Operations and Business Services during 2014, Vice President of Corporate Affairs between 2013 and 2014, Vice President of Petroleum Engineering and Development between 2010 and 2012, Executive Director of Petroleum Engineering and Development between 2009 and 2010, Chief Petroleum Engineer between 2008 and 2009, Chairman of the Executive Advisory Committee, Secretary of the Administrative Committee and the Central Committee.

He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Refining Company and Aramco Services Company in America, and a member of the Board of Directors of Pengerang Petrochemical Company between 2020 and 2022, Pengerang Refining Company between 2020 and 2022, Lukoil Saudi Arabia Energy Company Limited, the Saudi Council of Engineers, the Arab Company for Geophysics and Surveying Limited (ARGAS), the International Society of Petroleum Engineers, and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the University of Hafr Al-Batin.

He holds a PhD in petroleum engineering in 1996 from the University of Southern California, a master’s degree in the same specialization in 1992 from the same university, and a Bachelor’s degree in the same specialization in 1988 from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals .
