Chairman of the Academic Committee and Member of the Board of Trustees of the “ Institute of Applied Technology ” since 2006, United Arab Emirates.
He is a member of the editorial board of the “Energy Journal” issued by “OPEC”, and a scientific reviewer of papers submitted for publication in the scientific journals of the “Society of Petroleum Engineers”, “Journal of Petroleum Science Engineering”, “Qatar University Engineering Journal”, and “University Journal King Saud".
He joined the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University as an assistant professor in 1989, and was promoted to associate professor in 1997, and to professor in 2005.
He held several positions at the United Arab Emirates University, including: Head of the Energy Research Department and Director of the Technology and Energy Research Center between 1989 and 1991. He also worked as Assistant Dean of the College of Engineering for Scientific Research during the period between 1992 and 1996, and a member of the University Council between 1994 and 1998.
He then assumed the position of Head of the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at the college for two periods between 1997 and 1999, 2003 and 2005, Vice Dean of the College between 1999 and 2006, Dean of the College between 2006 and 2013, and finally Vice Chancellor of the University between 2013 and 2014. He also served as Director of “ Zayed University .”
He won the “United Arab Emirates University Award for Excellence in Scientific Research and Community Service” in 2003, and the “Award for the Best Research Project Funded from Outside the University” in 2006. He also received appreciation for the “Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Award” at the Culture and Science Symposium for Emirati Professors in 2006. 2011.
He holds a doctorate in petroleum engineering in 1989 from Stanford University in the United States of America.
