President of the United Arab Emirates since May 14, 2022, and Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

The rulers of the seven emirates elected him as President of the United Arab Emirates, after the passing of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, on May 14, 2022. He is the son of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father and the first president of the Emirates.

He is the Chairman of “ Abu Dhabi National Oil Company - ADNOC ” since February 28, 2021, the “ Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research ”, the Tawazun Economic Council “Tawazun”, and the “Abu Dhabi Investment Council”.

He assumed the presidency of the “ Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi ” between 2004 and 2023, and was Deputy Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi between 2003 and 2004, and Vice President of the “Executive Council of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi” during 2004.

He also served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of: “Mubadala Investment Company”, “International Fund for Houbara Conservation”, “Abu Dhabi Economic Development Council”, “Abu Dhabi Urban Development Council”, and “Abu Dhabi Education Council”.

He rose through the ranks of the UAE Armed Forces, from an officer in the Emiri Guard to a pilot in the Air Force, then rose to several senior positions until he reached his current position as Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. He contributed to the development of the UAE Armed Forces, in terms of strategic planning, training, organizational structure, and enhancing the country's defense capabilities. His direct guidance and leadership contributed to making the UAE Armed Forces a leading institution appreciated by a large number of international military institutions.

In 2017, he launched a global initiative; “Reaching the Last Mile” Fund, in cooperation with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to raise $100 million, with the aim of eliminating infectious diseases in the poorest communities around the world.

Through the Majlis Mohammed bin Zayed, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed hosts an elite group of scholars, clerics, thinkers, intellectuals, experts and creators from various parts of the world, to present their opinions and theoretical, scientific and applied experiences on various general topics and vital issues related to the developments of the era and its requirements and to explore future prospects. The future within the framework of the Amer Council has become an intellectual forum for various points of view, adopting dialogue and exchanging opinions as a language of civilization and high purpose. Among the figures who spoke at the Mohammed bin Zayed magazine were Dr. Abdul-Ilah Belqziz, pilots Andre Borschberg and Bertrand Picard, American educational expert Michelle Borba, Dr. Caleb Harper from the Media Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Kent Walker, Executive Vice President and General Counsel at Google, and others.

He was awarded as “Honorary Professor” by Chinese “Tsinghua University”, the highest degree the university grants to senior leaders, in appreciation of his efforts in supporting advanced science, technology and innovation.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed was born in Abu Dhabi on March 11, 1961. He completed his studies in the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom, where he graduated from the “Royal Military Academy Sandhurst” in 1979. He is married to Sheikha Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan , and they have 9 sons and daughters (including Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan , and Sheikh Dhiyab bin Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan ), and 14 grandchildren and granddaughters.
