Vice Dean of New York University Abu Dhabi for Research Publishing Affairs since April 2017, United Arab Emirates.

He is the administrative director of the Research Institute at New York University Abu Dhabi , a research professor in biology at the university since 2017, and a full-time professor of biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology at the College of Medicine and Health Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University since 2017. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Research Institute at New York University Abu Dhabi. Director of the Emirates Scholars Council since 2018, Chairman of the Medical Research Grants Committee at the Scientific Research Support Center of the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences since 2009, and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research since 2014.

He worked as a part-time senior lecturer at Harvard Medical School in the United States of America between 2015 and 2020, and assumed the position of senior advisor at the Harvard Medical School Center for Global Health Services in the Emirates between 2014 and 2020, and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Dubai Healthcare City Authority between 2012 and 2019.

He also served as CEO of the Al Jalila Foundation Research Center between 2016 and 2017, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the same Foundation between 2016 and 2019, and a visiting professor in the Department of Medical Sciences at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom between 2015 and 2018.

He also held the position of Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the United Arab Emirates University between 1991 and 2017, and Advisor to the Vice President of the same university for Academic Affairs between 2013 and 2016, and a member of the Board of Directors of “ Dubai Healthcare City ” between 2015 and 2016, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the College of Hamdan bin Mohammed Dental Center between 2012 and 2015, and Deputy Vice Dean of the United Arab Emirates University for Research and Postgraduate Studies between 2011 and 2013.

He won the Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences for the best research published in the “Hamdan Medical Journal” in 2016.

He holds a doctorate in biochemistry in 1991 from Imperial College London, and a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry in 1987 from the University of Southampton in the United Kingdom.
