She works on managing and developing the corporate citizenship file of “Hilal Enterprises”, including designing, implementing and managing the social investment strategy, where projects are implemented through partnerships with development and humanitarian institutions in the region and internationally.

Ala has held a number of positions, including:

• Director of Corporate Citizenship at Crescent Enterprises between 2015 and 2020.
• Fundraising Advisor at UNICEF between 2014 and 2015.
• Reporting Officer at the same organization between 2013 and 2014.
• Monitoring and Reporting Officer at UNDP between May and April 2014.
• Project Manager of the Creativity Bank for Microfinance of the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) between 2010 and 2013.
• Director of the Culture for Community Development Program at the Syrian Trust for Development between 2009 and 2010.
• Director of the Community Development Program at the same entity between 2007 and 2009.
• Coordinator of the Technology for Communities Project in cooperation with the Syrian Trust for Development and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) between 2006 and 2009.

Alaa also worked at the Syrian Fund for Rural Development (FIRDOS) for 5 years, during which she held several positions, including: Education Program Manager, Advisor to the Head of the Rural Development Working Group, Basic Development Needs Officer, and Basic Development Needs Assessment Project Manager.

She has over 20 years of experience in designing and managing socio-economic projects and fundraising in the humanitarian sector with the United Nations, the private sector and the non-profit sector in the Middle East, and during her tenure she has contributed to the implementation of projects in the fields of social projects, culture and education.

She holds a postgraduate degree in Sustainable Business from the University of Cambridge, a Master’s degree in Applied Development Studies from the University of Reading in the United Kingdom, a Diploma in Arabic-French Translation from the University of Lyon II in France, a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities from the University of Damascus , and an Executive Certificate in Management and Leadership from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.
