Minister of Finance since October 2021, State of Qatar.

He has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Development Bank since 2019, Katara Hospitality Company, and QNB Group . He is a member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Investment Authority, Qatar Energy Company, and a member of the Board of Trustees of Qatar University and the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment.

He held several positions, including: Minister of Commerce and Industry between November 2018 and October 2021, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatar Stock Exchange , and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the same stock exchange. He has also been the CEO of Qatar National Bank between 2013 and 2018, Executive General Manager and Director of the Operations Sector at the same bank, CEO of MasterCard Middle East and North Africa, and Chairman of the Advisory Board at the same company.

He also held the position of CEO of Qatar National Bank Switzerland and Qatar National Bank Indonesia, Chairman of Qatar National Bank Al Ahli, Vice Chairman of Commercial Bank International - UAE, co-founded QNB Capital and served as its Chairman, and was a member of the Board of Directors of Qatar Navigation Company (Milaha), Qatar Financial Centre, and Nakilat.

He has over 25 years of experience in business and finance.

He holds a Master’s degree in Information Management Systems Science in 1987 from Seattle Pacific University in the United States of America, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science in 1984 from Eastern Washington University in the same country.
