Board Member and Chief Executive Officer of Al Baraka Group since October 24, 2022, Kingdom of Bahrain.

He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Al Baraka Bank Turkey”, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of “ Jordan Islamic Bank ”, and a member of the Board of Directors of “Al Baraka Bank South Africa”, “ Al Baraka Bank Egypt ”, and “ Al Baraka Bank Algeria ”.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of “Al Baraka Bank Tunisia” until March 2023.

He has over 23 years of experience in the financial sector in the Middle East, Europe and North Africa region. He previously held the position of Acting CEO of Al Baraka Group between July 1, 2022 and October 24, 2022, and Deputy CEO of the same group and Head of Business Development and Investments between 2020 and 2022, where he developed products and commercial initiatives across the group, managed commercial banking and treasury functions, and was responsible for the group’s strategy department.

Prior to joining Al Baraka Group, he worked in the United Arab Emirates as the CFO at Amlak Finance Company between 2018 and 2020. Before that, he worked for 10 years at Shuaa Capital , where he started as the Head of Accounting, then Head of Finance, and then Chief Operating Officer until he became the General Manager of the company.

Houssem started his career at Arthur Andersen, before joining Societe Generale Banking Group, as Head of Accounting.

He has served as a member of the boards of directors of several listed and regulated institutions.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance from the Higher Institute of Accounting in Tunis, and a Certified Public Accountant certificate.
