Sahar Otri Al-Akhras has been subject to US Treasury sanctions, along with her husband and son, since December 2020, as they are, according to the US Treasury, “complicit with the Assad regime, through corruption and support for the war machine that has killed tens of thousands of Syrians, through their commercial and administrative activities and public relations that enabled the Assad regime to circumvent the sanctions imposed on it, and supported its military option.”

Records of the Syrian Ministry of Economy indicate that Sahar Otri Al-Akhras is a founding partner in the “National Company for Medical Services ”, Syrian Arab Republic, where she owns 3,333 shares in the company, representing 33.33%, valued at 3,333,000 Syrian pounds.

She worked as a first secretary at the Syrian Embassy in London.

Sahar Otri Al-Akhras holds both Syrian and British citizenship. She is married to Fawaz Al-Akhras, and they have three children: Asma, Firas, and Iyad.
