Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council with the rank of Minister since January 9, 2023, United Arab Emirates.

He has been the Chairman of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security with the rank of Minister since October 10, 2021.

He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Anwar Gargash Academy, formerly known as the Emirates Diplomatic Academy, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority .

He held the position of Deputy Secretary-General of the Supreme National Security Council with the rank of Minister between 2013 and 2023, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship between 2017 and 2021, and Chairman of the General Authority for Ports and Borders Security.

He was also the UAE Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan between 2008 and 2009, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation and the Abu Dhabi Ports Company.

He represented the UAE Mission to many international regional bodies such as the Arab League and the United Nations.

Al Shamsi studied public administration in the Arab Republic of Egypt and the United States of America.
