He also held several positions at Shell Oil Company, including: South Iraq Gas Finance Manager, Senior Management Advisor, and Planning and Finance Manager.

He worked as a chartered accountant and consultant at Ernst & Young in London.

He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Imperial College London in the United Kingdom in 1990.
