He was a board member of Emirates General Transport and Services Company (Emirates Transport) , Emaar Properties between 2012 and 2021, Etihad Rail, DP World , and Emaar Development between 2017 and 2020. He has 28 years of experience in the management and operation of international ports and maritime transport, where he held several positions in the ports and maritime transport sector, namely: CEO of Dubai Ports Authority, affiliated with the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation between 2017 and 2020, Chairman and CEO of P&O Ports between 2014 and 2016, and CEO of the Department of Planning and Development (Trakhees), the regulatory arm of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation in Dubai. He also held several previous positions at DP World, including: Deputy General Manager of the UAE Region, Senior Vice President of International Operations and Engineering, Acting Senior Vice President of the Africa Region, and Executive Director of Operations in the UAE Region. He served as CEO and Chairman of P&O Ferry in the UK, and was a member of the Board of Directors of DP World in Sokhna Port in Egypt in 2008. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Geography in 1989 from the United Arab Emirates University , an International Diploma in Port Planning and Management from the University of New Orleans in the United States, a Diploma in Port and Shipping Management from the Port of Singapore Authority, a Certificate in the Senior Executive Program from Harvard Business School, and a Certificate in the Leadership Development Program in the Government of Dubai .
