Dowidar joined the Group in September 2015, initially serving as Group Chief Operating Officer, and was subsequently appointed Chief Executive Officer of International Operations in March 2016. In May 2020, he assumed his current role as Group Chief Executive Officer.

Ever since he took the company’s helm, Dowidar has led the Group’s transformation from a traditional telecommunications company into a global technology group. Through a series of strategic initiatives, Dowidar has driven the Group’s expansion into 38 markets worldwide, strengthened its brand value, enhanced employee engagement, and forged high-impact strategic partnerships with leading global technology companies.

e& is World’s Fastest Growing Brand in the Brand Finance Global 500 Report, as well as the most valuable brands in the Middle East and Africa. As a culmination of these achievements, Brand Finance named Dowidar the world’s top-ranked telecommunications leader on the Brand Guardianship Index 2024.

He brings over 30 years of experience in multinational organizations, including more than 25 years in the telecommunications industry, where he has held a variety of senior leadership roles. He also possesses expertise in corporate governance, having served as chairman and board member of several companies both within and beyond the telecommunications sector.

Prior to joining e& Group, Dowidar worked at Vodafone Group and its subsidiaries. He initially joined Vodafone Egypt in 1999 as Marketing Director (CMO), he later advanced to Chief Executive Officer from 2009 to 2014, during which he contributed to accelerating the company’s growth and profitability.

He subsequently assumed several leadership roles at Vodafone Group, including Group Director of Core Services, Chairman and CEO of Vodafone Malta, CEO of Partner Markets with partnerships covering over 45 markets. He also served as Regional Director for Emerging Markets and, lastly, Group Chief of Staff.

Dowidar began his career in AEG (part of the Daimler-Benz Group) in Egypt before joining Procter & Gamble, where he held various leadership positions in marketing.

He has served on the boards of several companies, including Hutch Lanka, Etisalat Nigeria, Attijariwafa Bank Egypt, Barclays Bank Egypt, Vodacom (South Africa), Vodafone (Egypt and Malta), and El Sewedy Electrometer.

Dowidar currently serves on the Boards of Vodafone Group, Etihad Etisalat (Mobily), Maroc Telecom, and e& Egypt.

At the international level, Dowidar is a member of the GSMA (the Global System for Mobile Communications Association), which represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide, and a member of the UN Internet Governance Forum (IGF), which focuses on global internet and technology policies and practices.

He holds an MBA from the American University in Cairo (2001), a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications & Electronics Engineering from Cairo University (1991), and a Diploma in Industrial Engineering from the American University in Cairo (1993).
