Khalfan Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, former UAE Minister. He passed away on April 6, 2016.

Al Rumi participated in the committees that prepared for the establishment of the United Arab Emirates, and rose through leadership positions. He held the position of Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, then held the portfolios of the Ministries of Health, Labor, and Social Affairs, in addition to Media and Culture. He held the position of Chairman of the Arab Culture Award. His name, along with the late Abdullah Omran Taryam, was associated with the establishment of Emirati media during the union.

He was a member of the UAE delegation that participated in the Arab League meeting to join the League and discuss the issue of the occupation of the UAE islands. He was one of the members of the delegation that visited a group of Arab countries to explain the point of view of establishing the United Arab Emirates. He also participated in many Gulf, Arab, Islamic and international conferences and meetings.

The Dubai Government Media Office honored Al Roumi in 2013, in the presence of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. On the day of his death in April 2016, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid wrote on his Twitter account: "The UAE mourns the loss of Khalfan Mohammed Al Roumi, one of the nation's loyal men and one of the companions of Zayed and Rashid in the journey of construction. To God we belong and to Him we shall return. Khalfan Mohammed Al Roumi gave the nation many years of his life, his giving, energy and diligence, and passed on to his sons the love of the nation and its service. We ask God to accept him among the righteous."

Al-Roumi is the brother of former Minister of Social Affairs, Mariam Al-Roumi, and the father of Minister of Happiness, Ohoud Al-Roumi.

Al-Rumi graduated from the University of Baghdad and passed away on April 6, 2016.
