Gulf Insurance Group (GIG) was established in Kuwait in 1962 and has been publicly traded on the Boursa Kuwait since 1984. With a paid-up capital of 28,457,246 Kuwaiti Dinars, GIG is a major player in the regional insurance industry.
Operating across various insurance segments, including health, property, and motor insurance, GIG has built a diverse portfolio of businesses. The group has a significant presence in several countries through its subsidiaries, such as Arab Orient Insurance Company PSC, Bahrain Kuwait Insurance, AIG Egypt Insurance Company, Egyptian Life Takaful Company, Gulf Insurance and Reinsurance Company among others.
In addition to its core insurance business, GIG has made strategic investments in companies such as Argan International Real Estate, The Alliance Insurance Company, and Brooge Petroleum and Petrochemicals. Notably, in 2021, GIG acquired the stake of French company AXA in both AXA Cooperative Insurance Company and Haya Insurance Company.
