Diplomatic advisor to the President of the United Arab Emirates since February 10, 2021.

He is a member of the UAE Cabinet , Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation , a member of the Board of Trustees of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy , a member of the Ministerial Council for Development , and a member of the UAE Soft Power Council since April 2017, and Chairman of the UAE International Human Rights Review Task Force.

He served as Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, and was a member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Media Corporation, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry , and Al Ittihad Newspaper .

He also served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking in the UAE, and CEO of Gargash Enterprises. He worked as a professor of political science at the United Arab Emirates University and as an assistant professor at the College of Political Science at the same university. In addition, he chaired the Board of Trustees of the Dubai School of Government, was a member of the Dubai Economic Council, and a member of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Emiratization Program “Tawteen”.

In addition to his ministerial work, he served as Chairman of the National Elections Committee , where he oversaw the elections held in the UAE in 2006, 2011 and 2015. He also served as Managing Editor of the “Strategic Studies” series issued by the Emirates Center for Research and Strategic Studies, and the “The Emirates Occasional Papers” series issued by the same center.

He received the “Global Leadership Award” in 2018 from “ New York University Abu Dhabi ” in recognition of his contributions and role in achieving a world of peace. He also received the “Order of the Union” in 2021, and the “ Abu Dhabi Award ,” where he was honored by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in 2016.

He received his PhD from King's College, UK in 1990, a Master's degree in Political Science from George Washington University, USA, and a Bachelor's degree in the same field from the same university.
