Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Pensions and Social Security since July 2023, United Arab Emirates.

He held the position of CEO of the Emirates Investment Authority between 2008 and 2023, Governor of the Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates between 2014 and 2020, and served as a member of the Board of Directors of the same bank between December 16, 2018 and July 16, 2020. He also held the position of Director General of the Abu Dhabi Retirement Pensions and Benefits Fund between 2000 and 2008, and worked in the Equities Department at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority between 1991 and 2000.

He was a member of the Board of Directors of the following: “ Securities and Commodities Authority ”, “Etisalat”, “ Abu Dhabi Securities Market ”, “Bildco”, and “Mobily ”, and was a member of the Supreme Council of the “Islamic Financial Services Board”.

He was a director in several institutions, including: “Etisalat Misr Company”, “Arab International Bank” in Egypt, “Arab Banking Corporation” in Bahrain, Egypt and Jordan, and “Abu Dhabi Holding Company” in the Emirates.

Ranked third as the most influential executive in the global institutional investment sector in the 2016 Global Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute report.

He holds an MBA from the University of West Florida in the United States of America, and a BA in Finance from Indiana State University in the same country.
