Omar Al-Durai's Bio
Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat since April 15, 2024, United Arab Emirates.
He is the Director General of the Emirates Fatwa Council , a member of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Zayed University for Humanities since November 16, 2020, and an assistant professor at the same university.
He held the position of Executive Director of Islamic Affairs at the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, and Director of the Fatwa Department at the same authority. He was a member of the Emirates Fatwa Council between 2018 and 2022.
He published the book “Tolerance in Islamic Sharia: The Experience of the United Arab Emirates as a Model” and the book “Values of Crises and the Crisis of Values.”
He presented a number of religious programmes on Emirates TV, including: “The Covenant of Life”, “He is God”, and “Messages of My Lord”.
He holds a PhD in Islamic Jurisprudence and Contemporary Issues from Mohammed V University, Abu Dhabi , a Master’s degree in Discourse Characteristics in 2013, a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies in 2010, and a Professional Diploma in Tolerance and Coexistence in 2019 from the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research .
