President of the University of Dubai since July 2013, United Arab Emirates.

He has been the Honorary President of the UAE Section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers since January 2012, and the Chairman of the Emirates International Club since January 2004, in addition to being the Director and Partner of Al-Barajeel Engineering Consultancy Office since January 1994.

He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Cultural and Scientific Association, a member of the Advisory Board of the Artificial Intelligence Journalism Foundation for Research and Foresight, and a member of the Emirates Society of Engineers.

He served as CEO of the Information and Communications Technology Fund between 2010 and 2012 in the UAE, and was the Head of the UAE Section at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers between 1995 and 2011. He also held the position of Education and Technology Advisor at the Dubai Silicon Oasis Authority between 2003 and 2008.

He held a number of positions at the United Arab Emirates University, including: Information Technology Center between 1998 and 2000, Assistant Dean of Engineering for Student Affairs between 1992 and 1996, Technology Division at the Technology and Energy Research Center between 1991 and 1992, Head of the Energy Division between 1990 and 1991, Faculty Member between 1989 and 2003, and Teaching Assistant between 1981 and 1989.

He received the Sheikh Rashid Award for Scientific Excellence and the Emirates Appreciation Award in Science, Literature and Art in the field of science in 2009.

He holds a PhD in Electrical and Communications Engineering in 1988 from the University of California-Irvine, a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1983 from the University of California-San Diego, and a Bachelor’s degree in the same specialization in 1981 from the same university.
