Minister of State for Energy Affairs since November 2018, State of Qatar.

He has been the CEO and Managing Director of Qatar Energy Company since September 2014, and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the same company since November 2018. He has also been the Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Industries Qatar Company since March 2015, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Airways and Qatar Electricity and Water Company.

He held the position of Director of Oil and Gas Projects Affairs at Qatar Energy Company between 2006 and 2014. He worked in the field and reservoir management at the same company between 1991 and 2006, where he assumed a number of tasks and responsibilities, including Gas Development Manager, and was responsible for managing and developing the North Field.

He was awarded the “Energy Executive of the Year 2022” by Energy Intelligence and was also listed among the “Top 100 CEOs in the Middle East 2022” by Forbes Middle East .

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering in 1991 from Pennsylvania State University in the United States of America.
