A Syrian-British businessman and billionaire.

He is a major partner in Petrofac Group, a group specializing in providing services within the energy sector, and he is also the founder and CEO of Ventera Group, a services company working to support the rapid expansion of the offshore wind energy industry.

Asfari is the chairman of the board of the Asfari Foundation , which provides support to civil society organizations in Syria and the Middle East. He has been a member of the board of trustees of the American University of Beirut since 2007 and of the board of directors of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. He is also a member of the Chatham House Committee of Senior Advisers.

He served as CEO of Petrofac for over 20 years and was a board member of the British Syrian Society.

He was included in Forbes magazine's lists of "Energy Billionaires of 2016" and "World's Richest People" in 2013.

He received the “Jewel of the Islamic World” award in 2013 from the “ Organization of Islamic Cooperation ”, and in 2010 he received the title of “Businessman of the Year” from “Ernst & Young”.

He was included in the "Pioneers in Philanthropy" list for 2025 after announcing his donation of $10,000,000 to the "Al Wafaa ldlib Campaign".

He completed his studies in the United States of America, where he obtained a Master's degree in Civil and Urban Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1980, and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Villanova University in 1979.
